Team Ninja has unveiled Nioh 3, the next entry in its brutal action RPG series, launching February 6, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Steam. The game introduces a dual combat system and marks the first time the franchise ventures into open world territory.
Samurai and Ninja Combat

Nioh 3 introduces a defining new mechanic: players can seamlessly switch between Samurai and Ninja combat styles in real-time. The Samurai approach emphasizes devastating close-range techniques and careful stamina management, delivering the weighted combat fans expect from the series.
The Ninja style transforms gameplay entirely, prioritizing swift movements and aerial agility. Players gain access to ninjutsu techniques that open up vertical combat options, allowing for approaches that previous entries never offered.
Open World Exploration

For the first time in series history, Nioh 3 delivers open world exploration across vast environments. Players traverse multiple regions with freedom to explore while maintaining the intense tension that defines the franchise. Crucible zones scattered throughout present the ultimate challenge, filled with powerful yokai that will test mastered skills.
A Battle Across Time

Set in 1622, the story follows protagonist Tokugawa Takechiyo as he confronts his brother Tokugawa Kunimatsu, who has fallen to darkness and commands vast demon armies. Through the power of his guardian spirit Kusanagi, Takechiyo transcends time itself, traveling across the Edo, Sengoku, and Heian periods to prevent catastrophe.
The narrative weaves together legendary heroes including Himiko as players work to save Japan from yokai rule.
Multiplayer and Demo

Online multiplayer supports up to three players cooperatively. A playable demo launches January 29, 2026, with save data transferring to the full release.
Pricing is set at ¥9,680 for the standard edition and ¥15,180 for the Digital Deluxe Edition. A physical Treasure Box edition is available for ¥16,280.
