Persona Series Celebrates 30th Anniversary with Special Website and New Projects

Atlus has officially kicked off the Persona series 30th anniversary celebration with the launch of a special commemorative website. The beloved JRPG franchise, which first debuted on September 20, 1996, enters its milestone year with promises of various projects and events throughout 2026.

Three Decades of Persona

The original Revelations: Persona launched on PlayStation in 1996, introducing players to the concept of summoning Personas, manifestations of the inner self used in battle. Over three decades, the series has grown from a Shin Megami Tensei spinoff into one of gaming's most recognizable JRPG franchises.

Soejima's Anniversary Artwork

To mark the occasion, character designer Shigenori Soejima created an original commemorative illustration featuring protagonists from across the mainline series gathered together. The artwork, revealed on January 1, 2026, showcases the visual evolution of the franchise while celebrating its iconic cast of characters.

Persona 5 Turns 10

The anniversary year holds additional significance as Persona 5, the series' most commercially successful entry, celebrates its 10th anniversary. Originally released on September 15, 2016, P5 brought the franchise to unprecedented mainstream recognition and spawned numerous spinoffs, an anime adaptation, and the expanded Persona 5 Royal.

What's Coming

The official anniversary website features sections for News, Games, Anime, Merchandise, and Events, though most remain marked as "coming soon." The next website update is scheduled for January 8, 2026, when additional details about the anniversary celebrations will be revealed.
