Stupid Never Dies: Funky Zombie Action RPG Coming to PS5 and Steam in 2026

GPTRACK50 Inc. has revealed Stupid Never Dies, an unconventional action RPG that puts players in control of a zombie protagonist navigating a monster-ruled otherworldly dungeon. The game was announced at The Game Awards 2025 on December 11, and is coming to PlayStation 5 and Steam in 2026.

From the Producer of Resident Evil and Devil May Cry

GPTRACK50 is led by Hiroyuki Kobayashi, a legendary former Capcom producer with an impressive track record. During his time at Capcom, Kobayashi produced the first six Resident Evil games, Dino Crisis, Devil May Cry and Devil May Cry 4, as well as the Sengoku Basara series.

The Osaka-based studio is backed by NetEase Games and staffed primarily by veterans with 15+ years of industry experience. In an interview with Automaton Media, Lead Engineer Shinya Shigeyoshi confirmed the team's deep expertise in action game development.

A Zombie's Love Story

Players take on the role of Davy, described as "a timid zombie living at the very bottom of monster society." His mission? To bring back Julia, the frozen human he loved, by fighting his way through a deadly dungeon filled with bizarre creatures and challenges.

The world of Stupid Never Dies features various monster types including werewolves, lizardmen, and skeletons as part of everyday life. According to the developers, Davy will be "joined by a cast of unique allies" throughout his journey.

"What if Hi-Fi Rush, But Zombies?"

Stupid Never Dies has been characterized as "What if Hi-Fi Rush, but zombies?" - blending fast-paced action with a vibrant, colorful aesthetic and rock music soundtrack. The game's reveal trailer adopted a music-video style presentation, featuring a "fast-paced pop-punk track" that captures the game's energetic spirit.

Kobayashi has stated that players should expect gameplay quality comparable to "Capcom titles in terms of the quality of the 3D action." However, he clarified that Stupid Never Dies is not a "stylish" game like Devil May Cry and won't be as dependent on combos. Instead, the focus is on what the developers call a "blazing fast growth" system.

Steal Abilities, Upgrade Your Undead Body

One of the game's unique mechanics allows players to steal abilities from defeated enemies. You can also modify your character with "bizarre upgrades" to your undead body, creating increasingly wild builds as you progress through the dungeon.

Core gameplay features include: - Fast-paced 3D action combat with innovative mechanics - Enemy ability theft for strategic advantage - Undead body customization with strange upgrades - Strange item collection throughout the dungeon - Rapid character progression and leveling

A Single-Player Experience Unlike Anything Before

GPTRACK50 promises to deliver "a single-player 3D action RPG experience unlike anything you've played before." The game blends dark comedy with psychedelic visuals, story-rich exploration, and 3D platforming elements.

Stupid Never Dies will support nine languages including English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), and Japanese. Steam Family Sharing will also be supported.
