A new character introduction trailer puts Barret Wallace front and center as Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade prepares for its expanded platform launch in January 2026. Avalanche's imposing leader shows why he'll stop at nothing to save the planet from Shinra's grip.
The Man With the Gun-Arm
Barret Wallace leads Avalanche's operations in Midgar, coordinating strikes against Shinra's Mako reactors that are draining the planet's life force. His most distinctive feature is his prosthetic right arm, which has been modified into a powerful gatling gun—a constant reminder of everything Shinra has taken from him.
Despite his intimidating appearance and aggressive demeanor, Barret is driven by love—both for the planet and for his adopted daughter Marlene, who waits for him at Seventh Heaven. His passion for the cause sometimes puts him at odds with Cloud's mercenary attitude.
Heavy Firepower Combat
In combat, Barret serves as the party's ranged damage dealer and tank. His gun-arm allows him to attack enemies from a distance while his high HP pool lets him absorb damage for the team. His Overcharge ability builds ATB quickly, making him excellent for ability-focused strategies.
Barret's Limit Breaks unleash devastating firepower, including his signature Fire in the Hole and Catastrophe attacks. Players can also equip different arm attachments to modify his combat role, including close-range melee options.
A Father's Determination
The trailer touches on Barret's complex motivations—while he genuinely believes in protecting the planet, his hatred of Shinra runs deeper and more personal. His hometown of Corel was destroyed by the corporation, leaving him as one of the few survivors and Marlene's guardian.
Expanding Beyond PlayStation
Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade arrives on Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC on January 22, 2026. The game is already available on PS5, Steam, and Epic Games Store. The complete package includes the base game and the INTERmission DLC.
Standard edition pricing is set at ¥5,478, with the Digital Deluxe Edition available for ¥7,101. The game features a "Game Boost" mode for players who prefer a story-focused experience, with options like full HP/MP and maximum damage output.
