Demonbane Returns: New Novel Series Zanma Taisen Announced by Original Creators
Nitroplus announces official Demonbane sequel novel by original creators Haganeya Jin and Niθ, serializing on multiple platforms.
The legendary mecha visual novel series Demonbane is making its triumphant return with a brand new novel series. Project D2 has announced Zanma Taisen Demonbane (斬魔大戰デモンベイン), bringing back the original creative team for what promises to be the definitive continuation of the beloved franchise.
The Original Team Returns
Fans of the series have reason to celebrate as both Haganeya Jin (story) and Niθ (illustrations) are reuniting for this new chapter. Haganeya Jin, the original scenario writer behind the Demonbane visual novels, has been developing this story for many years, and it's finally coming to fruition as an official sequel.

A World Where the Sword Has Been Lost
Zanma Taisen Demonbane takes place after the events of both Zanmataisei Demonbane (斬魔大聖デモンベイン) and Kishin Hishou Demonbane (機神飛翔デモンベイン). The story is set in a shattered reality—a "Patchwork Verse" (継接の世界/パッチワークバース) where all parallel universes have been destroyed.
In this broken world, the sword that cuts down demons has been lost. Neither Daijuuji Kurou nor Al Azif exist anymore. It's a premise that opens up entirely new narrative possibilities while honoring the legacy of what came before.
Where to Read
The novel is being serialized across multiple creator support platforms:
| Platform | Status |
| note | Available |
| Fantia | Available |
| pixivFANBOX | Available |
| Amazon Kindle | E-book available |
| Rakuten Books | E-book available |
Before the main story begins, the team is releasing recap episodes covering the previous entries in the series, making this an accessible entry point for newcomers while rewarding longtime fans.
A Legacy of Lovecraftian Mecha Action
For those unfamiliar, Demonbane is a visual novel series by Nitroplus that blends Lovecraftian cosmic horror with super robot action. The series follows Daijuuji Kurou, a down-on-his-luck detective who becomes the pilot of the ancient Deus Machina Demonbane alongside the grimoire-turned-girl Al Azif.
The original game spawned anime adaptations, manga, and a devoted following that has kept the flame alive for over two decades. This new serialization represents a major moment for the franchise and its passionate fanbase.
