Capcom has revealed extensive new details about Resident Evil Requiem (known as Biohazard 9 in Japan), confirming that fan-favorite Leon S. Kennedy returns as a playable protagonist alongside newcomer Grace in a dual-character system.

Leon and Grace: Two Perspectives, One Story

Set in 2026, the game follows an older Leon dealing with years of bioterrorism combat alongside Grace, described by the developers as "the most cowardly protagonist in Biohazard history." In contrast, Leon is positioned as "the strongest" playable character the series has seen, though even he will be pushed to his absolute limits.

The narrative centers on "Elpiis," a story element connected to Grace's mother's death and a secret Leon carries. Both characters' paths interweave throughout a single cohesive narrative with approximately 50/50 playtime split between them.

Contrasting Combat Systems

The development team has deliberately designed opposing gameplay experiences for each protagonist:

Grace - Her sections emphasize pure survival horror, using combat mechanics inspired by the Resident Evil 2 Remake. Players will experience terror and vulnerability as she faces overwhelming threats.

Leon - His gameplay builds on the Resident Evil 4 Remake foundation with an action-focused, satisfying combat loop. His arsenal includes a chainsaw, handgun, and military tomahawk for devastating melee attacks.

Dual Perspective Options
