Watch the Trailer
Capcom has pulled back the curtain on Alex, the third Year 3 DLC character for Street Fighter 6, and longtime fans might not recognize him. The former Street Fighter III protagonist has undergone a dramatic transformation, emerging as a villainous heel wrestler dubbed "The Man With No Allies." He's set to join the roster in early Spring 2026.
A Heel Turn for the Ages
The teaser trailer showcases Alex in an entirely new light. Set inside Haggar Stadium's cage-surrounded wrestling ring, the footage depicts Alex facing off against Andre, the towering Final Fight veteran better known to fighting game fans as Hugo Andore.
What happens next sets the tone for this new Alex. When Andre extends his hand for a pre-match handshake, Alex responds with a brutal surprise dropkick to the face. The stadium erupts in boos as the commentator exclaims what Japanese fans are calling the trailer's defining line: "This guy has no humanity!"
Alex's response? A dismissive shrug and a cold statement that the bell has already rung. He proceeds to systematically dismantle Andre with powerful wrestling techniques before walking away to continued jeering from the crowd.
New Look, Same Intensity
While Alex retains his signature blonde hair and the distinctive scar across his cheek from Street Fighter V, his visual design has been completely overhauled for this latest incarnation. Gone is the straightforward wrestler aesthetic. In its place, Alex sports a knit cap, biker vest, and face paint that reinforces his new heel persona.
The character's logo pays homage to his roots, featuring typography inspired by the font used in Street Fighter III: New Generation, the 1997 game where Alex made his debut as the intended new face of the franchise.
From Protagonist to Antagonist
Alex's journey through the Street Fighter series has been unconventional. Created to appeal to American audiences who connected more with professional wrestling than traditional martial arts, his design drew heavy inspiration from Hulk Hogan's wrestling repertoire and Axl Rose's visual style.
In the Street Fighter III storyline, Alex was a Manhattan-based fighter raised by his mentor Tom after his father's death. His fighting style combines powerful wrestling techniques with kickboxing, making him dangerous at any range. Signature moves like the Flash Chop, Hyper Bomb, and devastating power bombs have made him a fan favorite in competitive play.
This heel turn represents a fascinating evolution for a character who was originally positioned as a heroic successor to Ryu.
What's Included
Alex will be fully playable in Fighting Ground mode, bringing his revamped moveset to both casual and competitive matches. For World Tour mode, he'll appear as a new master, allowing players to learn his wrestling-based techniques and presumably explore more of his character development.
Year 3 DLC Lineup
Alex joins an impressive roster of returning fighters in the Year 3 Character Pass. Sagat arrived in Summer 2025, followed by C. Viper in Fall 2025. After Alex's Spring 2026 debut, the mysterious Ingrid will close out the year in late Spring 2026, marking her first appearance in a mainline Street Fighter title.
Players who own the Year 3 Character Pass or Ultimate Pass will unlock Alex automatically upon release. Those looking to purchase him individually can do so using Fighter Coins.
