Capcom has officially announced Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection (known in Japan as モンスターハンターストーリーズ3 ～運命の双竜～), the latest entry in the beloved turn-based RPG spin-off series. Set for release on March 13, 2026, the game promises a darker narrative and deeper combat system while retaining the charm that made the Stories series a fan favorite.

A Tale of Two Dragons

The story of Twisted Reflection takes place two centuries after a devastating conflict between neighboring kingdoms. As the drums of war begin to beat once more, twin Rathalos—long believed extinct—hatch from a single egg, an ominous sign foretelling destruction. Players will navigate the tensions between the rival kingdoms of Azuria and Vermeil while confronting an environmental catastrophe known as Crystal Encroachment that threatens to consume the land.

This darker, more mature storyline marks a significant tonal shift for the series, exploring themes of fate, conflict, and survival against impossible odds.

Turn-Based Combat Meets Monster Collection

At its core, Monster Hunter Stories 3 remains true to the series' signature gameplay loop: forming bonds with iconic monsters, known as Monsties, and raising them as companions. The turn-based battle system has been refined with new strategic depth, allowing players to build diverse teams and customize their Monsties' abilities.

The kinship system returns, enabling players to execute powerful combination attacks with their Monstie partners. As bonds deepen through battle and exploration, new abilities unlock, encouraging experimentation with different monster types and combat strategies.
