Resident Evil 9 Requiem: Capcom Survival Horror Coming February 2026

Resident Evil Requiem (known as Biohazard Requiem in Japan) is the ninth mainline entry in the legendary survival horror franchise. Set for release on February 27, 2026, the game promises to deliver the series' trademark tension, terror, and visceral combat across multiple platforms.

A New Chapter in Survival Horror

Resident Evil Requiem marks a significant evolution for the series, introducing players to FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft as she faces unimaginable horrors. Grace is the daughter of Alyssa Ashcroft, the investigative reporter from Resident Evil Outbreak (2003). The game also features Leon S. Kennedy as a playable character, with players switching between both protagonists throughout the story. The game was unveiled at Summer Game Fest 2025, where Capcom showcased an intense trailer set in the devastated Raccoon City.

Innovative Perspective System

One of Requiem's most notable features is the ability to switch between first-person and third-person perspectives at any time during gameplay. This flexibility allows players to experience the horror from multiple angles, choosing the view that best suits their playstyle or the intensity of each situation. First-person delivers claustrophobic terror, while third-person provides situational awareness during combat encounters.

Dual Protagonist Gameplay

Grace's missions are presented in the survival horror style of games such as Resident Evil 2 (2019) and Resident Evil Village, emphasizing exploration, puzzle-solving, and resource management. Leon's missions are more combat-driven, similar to Resident Evil 4 (2023). This dual approach creates varied gameplay throughout the campaign.

Powered by Capcom's acclaimed RE Engine, Resident Evil Requiem delivers stunning visuals and immersive environments that bring the horror to life. The engine has proven its capabilities across recent Resident Evil titles and other Capcom games, providing photorealistic graphics and smooth performance.

Multi-Platform Release

Resident Evil Requiem will launch simultaneously on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam, and Nintendo Switch 2. The Nintendo Switch 2 version was announced during a Nintendo Direct presentation in September 2025, making Requiem one of the flagship titles for the new console.
