Code of Joker Evolutions Cancelled: Sega's Blockchain Card Game Shut Down
Jokers Inc. has cancelled development of Code of Joker Evolutions, citing changes in the Web3 gaming market. NFT holders can request refunds until March 2026.
Code of Joker Evolutions, the blockchain-enabled digital card game based on Sega's arcade franchise, has been cancelled. Developer Jokers Inc. announced the news on December 22, 2025.
Web3 Market Collapse
The official statement cited "changes in the Web3 gaming market environment" as the primary reason for pulling the plug. The game was originally targeting a late 2025 to early 2026 launch window.

Gatchaman Collaboration
Code of Joker Evolutions had partnered with Tatsunoko Production for a Gatchaman (Science Ninja Team) collaboration card pack. The classic 1970s anime heroes were rendered as playable cards in the game's NFT ecosystem.

Refund Options
NFT card holders have two options:
- Full refund - Request between December 22, 2025 and March 23, 2026
- Physical conversion Convert digital Gatchaman cards to physical TCG cards for future use

Code of Joker Legacy
The original Code of Joker launched in Japanese arcades in 2013 and became one of Sega's most successful digital card games. The franchise spawned multiple arcade versions and a mobile port before this blockchain revival attempt.

This cancellation adds to the growing list of Web3 gaming projects that failed to find sustainable audiences as the blockchain gaming bubble continues to deflate.
