Pokemon TCG Pocket Crimson Blaze Expansion Brings Mega Evolutions on December 17
Pokemon TCG Pocket's first theme expansion pack introduces Mega Charizard Y, Mega Venusaur ex, and Mega Blastoise ex alongside new Trainer cards.
The Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket is about to get a massive upgrade. Pokemon TCG Pocket has announced its first theme expansion pack, Crimson Blaze (紅蓮ブレイズ / Guren Blaze), launching on December 17, 2025.
This expansion marks a significant milestone for the mobile card game, introducing Mega Evolution cards for the first time and bringing back the beloved Kanto starters in spectacular fashion.
Mega Evolution Arrives in Pokemon TCG Pocket
The headliner of Crimson Blaze is undoubtedly Mega Charizard Y, whose fiery artwork dominates the expansion's key visual. The iconic Fire/Flying-type Mega Evolution brings devastating power to players' decks, embodying the "Crimson Blaze" theme perfectly.

But Charizard isn't alone. The expansion features the complete trio of Kanto Mega Evolutions:
Mega Venusaur ex - The Grass/Poison powerhouse arrives with an impressive 240 HP and its signature move Crisis Bloom, dealing 120 damage. This 2-evolution Pokemon requires significant investment but rewards players with one of the tankiest cards in the game.

Mega Blastoise ex - The Water-type titan boasts 230 HP and features its iconic twin cannons prominently in the card artwork. Mega Blastoise brings heavy Water-type pressure to any deck.

Complete Kanto Starter Lines
Crimson Blaze doesn't just focus on the final evolutions. The expansion includes the complete evolutionary lines for all three Kanto starters:
- Bulbasaur (60 HP) - Grass-type basic with Tackle
- Charmander (60 HP) Fire-type basic with Bite (40 damage)
- Squirtle (70 HP) Water-type basic with Tail Slap (40 damage)

These cards feature charming new artwork that captures the personality of each starter Pokemon, making them collectible beyond their gameplay value.
New Trainer Cards
The expansion introduces powerful new Trainer cards that will shake up the competitive meta:
Clemont (Citron) - The Lumiose City Gym Leader appears as a Support Trainer card, depicted alongside his robot companion and Heliolisk. His effect allows players to search their deck for specific Pokemon-related cards.

Serena - The Kalos region Pokemon Performer joins the roster as another Support card, bringing strategic options for deck building.
Soothing Extract (そうじゅくエキス) - A new Item card that provides utility options for players.

Additional Pokemon
Beyond the headline Mega Evolutions, Crimson Blaze adds variety with:
- Ditto (60 HP) - The Transform Pokemon with its signature "Friend Copy" (ともだちコピー) ability
- Smoliv (100 HP) The Grass-type from Paldea
- Shuppet (60 HP) The Ghost-type Puppet Pokemon

Stunning Artwork
The Crimson Blaze expansion showcases some of the most dynamic artwork yet seen in Pokemon TCG Pocket. The Mega Evolution cards in particular feature explosive, action-packed illustrations:
- Mega Venusaur's Crisis Bloom attack is depicted with swirling grass energy
- Mega Blastoise's cannons are shown firing at full power with dramatic water effects
- Mega Charizard Y radiates intense flames in fiery oranges and blues

What This Means for Players
The introduction of Mega Evolution ex cards brings a new strategic layer to Pokemon TCG Pocket. These powerful cards require more resources to play - being 2-evolution Pokemon that need both the basic form and first evolution before Mega Evolving - but offer devastating stats and abilities in return.
Players should start preparing now by: - Collecting Kanto starter cards from existing packs - Saving in-game currency for Crimson Blaze pack purchases - Planning deck strategies around the new Mega Evolution mechanics
