Final Fantasy XIV Patch 7.4 Into the Mist Arrives December 16

Square Enix concludes the Arcadion raid series with Heavyweight Division and continues Krile's story in the mist-shrouded lands of Tural, alongside new trials, dungeons, and Hildibrand adventures.

Final Fantasy XIV Patch 7.4 Into the Mist

Final Fantasy XIV Patch 7.4 "Into the Mist" launches on December 16, 2025, bringing the climactic conclusion to the Arcadion raid series and continuing the Warrior of Light's journey through the Tural continent. This substantial update introduces new raids, dungeons, trials, and a major glamour system overhaul that players have long requested.

Main Scenario: Into the Mist

Krile story content

Following the resolution of Calyx and Preservation's machinations that freed Alexandria from chaos, the narrative shifts focus to Krile as she confronts deeply personal questions tied to her past in her homeland. The story takes players into mist-shrouded lands filled with mystery and revelation, exploring Krile's origins and the shadows that have haunted her throughout her adventures in Tural.

The Arcadion: Heavyweight Division

Arcadion Heavyweight Division

The Arcadion raid series reaches its thrilling conclusion with the AAC Heavyweight Division, the third and final tier of this 8-player raid storyline. With the cruiserweight division conquered, players rise into the fearsome heights of the heavyweight tier where the threat of psychonekrosis looms ever larger.

Raid boss battle

Normal mode launches December 16 alongside the patch, offering item level 775 Phantom Weapons that can be enhanced via duty drops, new Allagan Tomestones of Mnemonics currency, and new crafted gear for all jobs.

Savage mode releases three weeks later on January 6, 2026. Director Naoki Yoshida specifically delayed this launch to avoid holiday conflicts, responding to community feedback after the Chaotic Alliance Raid launched on Christmas Eve in 2024. The team wanted to ensure the final Arcadion Savage tier wouldn't interfere with players' winter holiday celebrations.

New Dungeon: Mistwake

Mistwake dungeon

The Warrior of Light, Krile, and companions descend into Mistwake, a long-lost land shrouded in mist and mystery. This atmospheric four-player dungeon promises challenging encounters as players explore forgotten depths and uncover secrets buried beneath the mist.

New Trials

Hell on Rails trial

Fans of Final Fantasy VIII will recognize this threat immediately - the iconic Doomtrain makes its FFXIV debut in the Hell on Rails trial! An unholy locomotive hurtles down the tracks with only the Warrior of Light standing as the sole obstacle. This mechanical nightmare offers both normal and extreme difficulties for players seeking the ultimate railway showdown.

A new variant dungeon arrives with "The Merchant's Tale," offering branching paths, multiple outcomes, and new difficulty levels for players seeking varied dungeon experiences. These dungeons allow 1-4 players with adjustable party compositions and unique storylines.

Major Glamour System Overhaul

One of the most requested quality-of-life changes finally arrives - level and role restrictions for glamour have been removed. Players can now apply the appearance of any gear to their equipment regardless of job or level requirements, massively expanding customization options. The only exception: weapons and tools retain class restrictions due to animation requirements.
