Digimon Story: Time Stranger Launches October 3 with 450+ Collectible Digimon

Bandai Namco's Digimon Story: Time Stranger introduces cross-dimensional time travel, 450+ collectible Digimon, and Winter 2025 DLC featuring five new ultimate forms.

Bandai Namco Entertainment and Media.Vision have launched Digimon Story: Time Stranger (デジモンストーリー タイムストレンジャー) on October 3, 2025, across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. The turn-based RPG features the series' largest roster with over 450 collectible Digimon and introduces cross-dimensional time-travel mechanics.

Time-Traveling Adventure Across Two Worlds

The narrative centers on uncovering the mystery behind the world's collapse, with players journeying between the Human World and the Digital World, known as "Iliad." The Time Stranger concept enables travel across parallel timelines, with chance encounters shaping the protagonist's journey. The story emphasizes the bonds formed between humans and their Digimon partners as central to resolving the dimensional crisis.

Players navigate interconnected environments spanning both realms, encountering unique characters and challenges specific to each world's timeline. The dual-world structure creates opportunities for exploration-based storytelling, where discoveries in one dimension influence events in the other.

Strategic Turn-Based Combat and Collection

Combat features evolved strategic turn-based battles with deep customization options for the 450+ Digimon roster. Players collect, train, and customize their partners through RPG-based progression systems. The expanded roster represents the largest collection in Digimon Story series history, encompassing creatures from across the franchise's 25-year legacy.

The battle system incorporates tactical positioning and type advantages, rewarding players who understand Digimon attributes and evolutionary paths. Customization extends beyond combat stats to include specialized builds for exploration and quest completion.

Winter 2025 DLC: Alternate Dimension

Bandai Namco announced the Season Pass Wave 1, titled "Alternate Dimension," during PlayStation's State of Play presentation on November 12, 2025. The narrative-focused expansion launches Winter 2025 and introduces five new ultimate-form Digimon:

  • Blitzgreymon (ブリッツグレイモン)
  • CresGarurumon (クレスガルルモン)
  • Omegamon Zwart DEFEAT (オメガモンズワルトDEFEAT)
  • Omegamon Alter-S (オメガモンアルタS)
  • Omegamon Alter-B (オメガモンアルタB)

The DLC centers on specific characters from the main narrative, expanding their storylines and relationships. Three additional DLC packs are planned as part of the Season Pass roadmap.

Digimon Story: Time Stranger is available in four editions:

  • Standard Edition: Base game

Series Evolution

Digimon Story: Time Stranger continues the franchise's turn-based RPG tradition while introducing mechanics that distinguish it from previous entries. The cross-dimensional premise expands on the Digital World concept established in earlier Digimon Story games, particularly the Cyber Sleuth subseries.

The 450+ Digimon roster demonstrates Bandai Namco's commitment to comprehensive franchise representation. Media.Vision's development leverages their extensive experience with the series, having created multiple Digimon Story titles including the critically acclaimed Cyber Sleuth games.

The simultaneous multi-platform launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC ensures broad accessibility. Steam availability particularly expands the series' reach to PC audiences who have embraced previous Digimon Story ports.
