Tides of Annihilation: Eclipse Glow's Arthurian Action-RPG Hits PS5, Xbox, PC in 2026

Eclipse Glow Games unveils an ambitious dark fantasy action-RPG where you summon the Knights of the Round Table to battle through a shattered London.

London lies in ruin. An otherworldly invasion has shattered the city, leaving behind a fractured landscape where modern ruins coexist with medieval fantasy. In Tides of Annihilation, you are Gwendolyn—humanity's lone survivor—armed with a mysterious power that lets you summon the spectral Knights of the Round Table to fight by your side.

Devastated London with Big Ben collapsed

Developed by Eclipse Glow Games, a Chengdu-based studio backed by Tencent, this ambitious action-RPG has been in development for over three years. Built in Unreal Engine 5, the game draws inspiration from Arthurian legend while delivering the kind of stylish, high-speed combat that fans of Final Fantasy XVI have been craving.

A Shattered London Reimagined

The game transforms iconic London landmarks into an eerie battleground. Big Ben lies toppled in flooded streets, ancient magic corrupts modern architecture, and colossal knights tower across Greater London like living monuments to destruction. These massive figures serve as both exploration challenges and epic boss encounters that require players to climb, explore, and battle their way to victory.

Colossal knight towering over Gwendolyn

Gwendolyn's quest takes her between modern London and mythical Avalon as she searches for the Holy Grail to rescue her sister and restore the fractured world. The narrative weaves themes of revenge, reunion, and redemption through encounters with characters drawn from Arthurian legend—though their fates in this world are marked by madness and conflict.

The Dual Frontline Battle System

At the heart of Tides of Annihilation lies its innovative Dual Frontline Battle System. Gwendolyn wields a mysterious gray fog that can manifest two spectral knights simultaneously, creating what the developers describe as "single-player co-op combat."

Dual knight combat system in action

Players can configure up to four knights in two sets, swapping between them mid-combat to extend combo chains and adapt to different enemy types. Each knight brings distinct abilities—some charge into battle aggressively, others provide defensive support, and all can combine their powers for devastating cooperative attacks.

Boss battle with spectral knights

The game features ten legendary knights inspired by the Knights of the Round Table, though Eclipse Glow has chosen to spotlight lesser-known figures from Arthurian lore. Sir Lamorak, one of the strongest knights in legend, appears as a key ally whose spear-throwing abilities can shatter magical barriers during boss fights.

Epic Boss Encounters

Tides of Annihilation promises over 30 unique boss fights. The showcased battle against Tyronoe—a witch-boss with shape-shifting and reality-bending powers—demonstrates the game's ambitious scope. She transforms into a massive bird beast, spawns clones, and creates "Mirror Space Folded Realm" barriers that players must break through.

Combat against fiery armored boss

Game Producer Kun Fu notes that the team drew inspiration from films like Inception, The Matrix, and Doctor Strange for their dimension-shifting combat sequences. Combat spans multiple planes—ground, air, and across dimensional mirrors—requiring players to control both Gwendolyn and their knights simultaneously.

The FF16 Connection

Fans have noted striking similarities between Tides of Annihilation and Final Fantasy XVI. Both are character action games with spectacle fighter combat, cinematic boss encounters, and systems that let players swap between different combat styles on the fly. The knight-summoning system mirrors FF16's Eikon abilities, and the overall visual presentation channels that same dark fantasy energy.

Exploration of ruined London

For players who loved FF16's combat but wanted more, Tides of Annihilation appears positioned to fill that void.
