Version 2.7 "Dawn Breaks on Dark Tides" went live on October 9, 2025, at 11:00 (UTC+8), delivering what might be one of the most substantial updates to Wuthering Waves yet. The patch introduced two highly anticipated 5-star Resonators, expanded the main story with two major chapters, and finally addressed several quality-of-life improvements the community had been requesting.

New Resonators and Weapons

Two new characters joined the playable roster with this update. Galbrena, a 5-star Fusion attribute Resonator wielding dual Pistols and codenamed "Infernal Descent," made her debut alongside Qiuyuan, a 5-star Aero attribute Sword user bearing the codename "Bambooscape." Both Resonators became available through their respective Character Event Convenes starting on launch day.

Two new 5-star signature weapons accompanied the character releases into the gacha pool, similar to live-service updates in games like NIKKE's 3rd anniversary,: Lux & Umbra (Pistols) for Galbrena and Emerald Sentence (Sword) for Qiuyuan. These weapons rolled out through the Absolute Pulsation weapon banner system, with Lux & Umbra launching on October 9 and Emerald Sentence arriving three weeks later on October 30.

Story Expansion

The main narrative received a massive expansion through two new chapters. Chapter II Act X, titled "The Bygone Shall Always Return," and Chapter II Act XI, sharing the update's name "Dawn Breaks on Dark Tides," pushed the overarching story forward in significant ways. Additional segue afterstories and side quests provided deeper character development and world-building that long-time players had been craving.

System Improvements

Players finally received several features they'd been asking for since launch. The new Resonator Ascension Planner streamlined character upgrade planning, eliminating the need for third-party calculators. Terminal Swap functionality let players switch between different terminal interfaces on the fly, while the Journey Log created a comprehensive quest completion history viewer for completionists.

The Gallery expanded with a new "Enemies" category, showcasing defeated adversaries for lore enthusiasts. Global Filter improvements extended to mobile platforms, evening out the experience between PC and mobile players. Graphics options grew with the addition of Eye Comfort mode, and PC players gained access to an Auto FPS feature that optimized performance without manual tweaking.

Events and Rewards

Four new limited-time events kicked off with the update: Lament Recon: Solaris Soldier, Septimont Weather Forecast, Gifts of Approaching Dawn, and Tactical Hologram: Lioness of Glory. The usual compensation rewards arrived in player mailboxes—600 Astrite total (300 for maintenance downtime and 300 for bug fixes) plus 2 Crystal Solvent.

Character Event Convenes rolled out in two phases. "From Ashes" and "Roar of Triumph" launched on October 9, followed by "Wanderer Knows No Far and Near" and "Between Light and Shadow" on October 30. This marked the 13th major version update for Wuthering Waves, showing Kuro Games' commitment to consistent content delivery since the game's May 2024 launch.
