NAMAKORIUM Brings Cooperative Sea Cucumber Cleanup to Steam Early Access

Polyscape has announced NAMAKORIUM, a charming cooperative multiplayer RTS where players command cute sea cucumbers to restore polluted oceans. The game launches on Steam Early Access on January 30, 2026.

Cooperative Ocean Cleanup

NAMAKORIUM puts players in charge of managing sea cucumber colonies to decontaminate polluted waters. Supporting 1-4 players, the game combines resource gathering, base construction, and strategic planning within tight time constraints as food supplies gradually deplete. The core loop emphasizes teamwork and coordination as players race against the clock to clean up contaminated zones.

The early access release includes 8 difficulty-varied stages and supports random matchmaking for quick multiplayer sessions. As players progress through increasingly challenging environments, they can unlock over 40 collectible viewing creatures through successful decontamination efforts. These creatures serve as rewards for thorough cleanup work and provide incentive to fully restore each stage.

Specialized Sea Cucumber Types

Players can command different types of sea cucumbers, each bringing unique abilities to the cleanup effort. Shell-type cucumbers offer defensive capabilities, while Iron variants provide durability for tougher jobs. Flame and Ice sea cucumbers add elemental strategies for tackling various environmental challenges and enemy types.

As pollution levels decrease, the ocean gradually returns to its original vibrant colors, providing satisfying visual feedback on cleanup progress. Watching the waters transform from murky and contaminated to clear and healthy creates a rewarding sense of accomplishment.

Boss Battles

Not all threats come from pollution alone. Boss encounters against powerful enemies called Okegare-sama require players to coordinate their forces and combine their sea cucumber colonies into a devastating combined sea cucumber cannon attack. These climactic battles test teamwork and timing as players must synchronize their efforts to defeat these formidable foes.

Pricing and Crowdfunding

NAMAKORIUM will be available at a special early access price of ¥1,200 (approximately $8 USD), with the regular price set at ¥1,500 after the promotional period ends. Polyscape has also launched a crowdfunding campaign to support IP expansion, with reward tiers ranging from ¥1,000 to ¥40,000 offering merchandise including figurines, acrylic stands, plushies, game keys, and even staff credits for top-tier supporters.
