Dota 2 x Monster Hunter Crossover Event Launches Today
Dota 2 and Monster Hunter join forces with free hero sets, hunting mechanics, and exclusive cosmetics running until February 2026.
Valve and Capcom have launched an unexpected crossover event bringing Monster Hunter to Dota 2, running from November 11, 2025 through February 6, 2026. The collaboration introduces Monster Hunter-themed hero sets, a hunting and crafting system, and exclusive cosmetics for both free and premium players.
Six Dota 2 heroes receive Monster Hunter armor designs: Dragon Knight, Windranger, Techies, Anti-Mage, Beastmaster, and Sniper. Each set features three craftable variant versions, with the core version available free to all players who complete in-game hunts. The event also adds a Palico courier and Poogie pet companion inspired by Monster Hunter's mascot characters.
Free Content and Hero Sets
All Dota 2 players can access the core Monster Hunter hero sets by participating in the event's hunting activities. Each of the six heroes features authentic armor designs from the Monster Hunter franchise, with Dragon Knight receiving Rathalos-inspired equipment and Beastmaster donning gear reminiscent of monster wranglers from Capcom's series.
The crafting system allows players to create three variant versions of each set, adding customization options beyond the base designs. Players collect materials through hunts to unlock these variants, introducing Monster Hunter's signature gathering and crafting loop to Dota 2's gameplay structure.
The free Palico courier and Poogie pet provide cosmetic companionship throughout matches, bringing Monster Hunter's beloved support characters into the MOBA environment. These additions maintain the crossover's thematic consistency while offering functional in-game benefits.
Premium Expedition Pack
The Expedition Pack offers exclusive content for players seeking deeper engagement with the crossover. Premium features include usable Monster Hunter monsters, with Dragon Knight able to summon Rathalos and Beastmaster commanding Bullfango during matches.
Additional premium content comprises a Monster Hunter music pack featuring tracks from Capcom's series, seasonal spray collections, and exclusive Poogie and Palico variants with custom ambient effects. Hero set variants in the premium pack include Immortal-quality effects unavailable through free crafting paths.
The pack also provides crafting materials to accelerate variant creation, allowing premium players to unlock customization options more quickly than through hunting alone.
New Hunting and Crafting System
Dota 2 integrates Monster Hunter's hunting mechanics through event-specific activities that reward players with crafting materials. The system mirrors Monster Hunter's core gameplay loop, tasking players with completing hunts to gather resources for set creation.
The Hero Atlas accompanies the event, featuring exclusive artwork and lore connecting Dota 2's heroes to Monster Hunter's universe. This digital collection provides context for the crossover while offering additional visual content beyond in-game cosmetics.
The crafting interface allows players to track variant progress, material requirements, and unlocked customization options. This system operates separately from Dota 2's standard cosmetic acquisition methods, creating a temporary alternative progression path during the event's three-month duration.
